After working in the financial markets with an AMC and a bank, I realized the inherent problem that exists in this segment.
Product specific push is extremely high and the more uninformed a customer is, the greater chance of them being treated as ‘low hanging fruits’ to sell products which generate high brokerages for the advisory bank/nbfc.
Moreover there is very low level of formal education in financial planning imparted to these ‘advisors’, and they are picked mainly on sales skill.
Some of the individuals working as stand alone financial planners are better in terms of integrity, but still plagued by lack of adequate knowledge or skill
